Nick DiMoro
Nicholas "Nick" DiMoro is an American digital marketer, search engine optimization (SEO) specialist and entrepreneur. He is the founder and chief executive of Mover Marketing AI, an agency that builds websites, local SEO and AI tools for more than 100 moving companies in the United States, and works as a fractional chief marketing officer for home service businesses under the name Home Service CMO.[1][2]
DiMoro entered the moving industry in 2017 as the first office hire at MyProMovers, a small upstart mover in Northern Virginia, where his marketing is in part credited with taking the company to $8 million in annual revenue and onto the Inc. 5000.[1][3] He founded Mover Marketing AI in 2020; its campaigns have since generated millions of dollars in revenue for moving companies across the country. He is known in the moving trade for his work on AI-assisted marketing and on optimizing businesses for AI assistants such as ChatGPT, a practice often called answer engine optimization (AEO).[1][5]
Early life and education [edit]
DiMoro was born and raised in Schenectady, New York. He attended the State University of New York at Oswego, graduating in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in public relations.[2] He has joked that he left the state because he could not stand the cold and no longer wanted to shovel snow.
Career [edit]
Early career
DiMoro began his career at Overit, a digital agency in Albany, New York, where he wrote for the agency's blog. One of his posts defined gamification as "the application of game mechanics and psychology to drive a set of specific desired behaviors by the user", a definition later quoted in marketing trade coverage.[8] He also worked in customer support at Quirky, the New York consumer-invention startup.[2]
MyProMovers
In 2017 DiMoro moved to the Washington, D.C. area and joined MyProMovers, then a small upstart mover, as its first office employee. He managed sales, marketing and operations while the founder, Tursun Alkau, worked on the trucks with the crews.[3] As sales and marketing manager he built the company's online presence across Virginia, Maryland and D.C., and his profile credits him with increasing organic lead volume by 1,100 per cent year over year.[2][7]
In 2019 DiMoro became a director of the company, a role he still holds. Under his marketing leadership MyProMovers grew to $8 million in annual revenue, more than 80 staff, a fleet of more than 20 trucks and a warehouse, with over 5,000 five-star reviews. It was named to the Inc. 5000 list of fast-growing private companies in 2024.[1][3]
Mover Marketing AI (2020–present)
DiMoro founded Mover Marketing AI in October 2020 to apply what he had learned at MyProMovers to other moving companies.[2] The agency works only with movers, offering websites, organic and local SEO, Google Business Profile management, paid advertising and AI integrations. It is based in Marietta, Georgia, and serves clients across the United States.[6] By 2026 it was marketing more than 100 moving companies and had audited hundreds more, and DiMoro's work for his roster of clients across the country had generated millions of dollars in additional revenue. It works on month-to-month terms, and clients keep ownership of the websites it builds.[1]
In May 2024, as chief executive of the sister venture Moving Leads AI, DiMoro announced the public launch of an AI-driven lead generation service for moving companies, covering digital advertising, email, SMS and direct mail, after a private phase with a waiting list.[4] He also writes about marketing for the agency, including guides to pay-per-click advertising and Local Services Ads for movers.[9]
In-house software and AI tools
DiMoro is an advocate of agencies building their own software instead of renting it. When Mover Marketing AI's software subscriptions reached about $17,000 a month, he replaced much of the stack with tools he wrote using AI, including a CRM, a rank tracker, a citation builder and Google Business Profile tools. He says this cut the agency's software bill by 65 per cent, about $132,000 a year.[1] He also publishes TL;DW, a free, open-source Chrome extension that summarizes YouTube videos using the user's own AI key and collects no data.[10]
Home Service CMO
Through Home Service CMO, DiMoro acts as a fractional chief marketing officer for home service companies such as HVAC, plumbing, roofing and cleaning firms, typically those with revenue of $1 million or more. The role covers budgets, vendor oversight, weekly reporting and delivery by the Mover Marketing AI team.[1][11]
Approach and ideas [edit]
DiMoro's marketing approach centres on booked jobs rather than traffic or rankings; he argues that a vendor or tool that cannot show booked jobs cannot prove its worth. His engagements begin with a paid diagnostic of one service in one market, followed by a fixed-price build and month-to-month work matched to what the leading competitors in that market do.[1] He tells prospects that SEO takes months, that rankings move before phone calls do, and that nobody honest can promise the top spot on Google.[1]
He holds that local businesses now need to be found in three places: Google Maps, conventional search results and AI assistants such as ChatGPT, and says most of his agency's clients already receive leads from ChatGPT.[1] In the moving industry he has emphasized online reviews, saying that "the growth of your company is tied to the consistency of your good reviews", while warning against unmonitored AI campaigns, poorly trained chatbots and AI-generated estimates made without a proper survey. He has summarized his view as "AI isn't coming for the moving industry—it's already here."[5]
Media and recognition [edit]
In 2019 DiMoro spoke at the Fairfax County Department of Family Services in Virginia on the value of community service and giving back.
DiMoro appeared in a two-part episode of the Movified podcast, hosted by Mark Hirschi, on how AI is changing the moving business; the program introduced him as "a leading voice in combining artificial intelligence with the moving industry".[5][12] His writing on gamification has been quoted by the marketing publication The Tilt,[8] and his launch of Moving Leads AI was covered in a 2024 press release.[4] He is scheduled to attend Ahrefs Evolve 2026, the search and AI marketing conference held in San Diego in October 2026.[13]
Personal life [edit]
DiMoro loves Mexico and travels around the country often, with favourite stops including Cancún, Sonora and Mexico City. He has described sailing the Sea of Cortez as a favourite pastime and has cited Dan Martell's Buy Back Your Time as an influence on how he balances work and life. He plays logistics and factory-building video games such as Factorio and Satisfactory, which he says keep his mind focused on building systems.
